i am

THIS IS ME

my journey to live better

my journey to live better

After I launched Louyella, a whole new world opened up to me. I met other women business owners who had left the corporate world to forge their own paths. They were using their creative ideas to improve their life and business. After sharing my story with them, they began to seek me out for legal advice. Speaking with them about the law, their dreams and struggles was transformative. It reignited my passion for the law and guided me to combine my legal mind with my creative soul.

It took years for me to realize that I need creativity and connection in my life. My need to create + connect with others on a meaningful level was constantly competing with my Type-A need for control + security. While my fellow attorneys would go out for drinks after work, I would attend evening classes at FIT in event planning and image consulting. I had to nourish my creative soul.

After I had my kids, the pull to align my work with who I am at my core became even stronger. I decided to listen to those whispers from my heart. So, I silenced my mind and I did a HeartCheck. I realized that in order to truly live a better everyday life I had to embrace all of me.

I set out to forge my own path using my professional skills and creative gifts.
I wanted work that would give me the flexibility to be with my kids and not feel guilty because I wanted to attend a field trip or two. I wanted to serve women who often sacrifice their own daily needs + desires for those who depend on them.  So, I launched a lifestyle brand, Louyella, and released my first product, Project Finish: a strategic playbook to guide you in your projects from start to finish. Creating a planner was something I’ve dreamed about for years.

When I was in the 5th grade, I begged my mom to buy my first planner. It was an ‘80s kids’ dream with neon colors and scratch + sniff stickers. I have been a pen + paper love ever since.  As long as I can remember, I've had this intense desire to bring calm + order to the lives of others.

so, how did i get here?

I've been practicing law for 18 years. My legal career began on September 10, 2001, when I started my first job out of law school for a big corporate law firm in NYC. I graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in 1998 and Tulane University School of Law in 2001. I have worked for two top AM 100 law firms and for Fortune 500 companies. As amazing as it was to work on Wall Street and on multi-billion-dollar complex business deals, something was missing.
